I love to start the New Year with a new word…I find it so interesting how a word can be shown to you through out the year. I like choose a word that will help me with personal growth- something that defines your character as a human being…to become a better person. read more hereClass Dolls:

There is a pedestrian walkway through Denver International to Terminal A..it usually has Native American flute-type music softly playing and this time there was the most gorgeous installation of origami cranes!
There is a Japanese legend..a belief... that 1000 paper cranes bring good luck...
Wedding Legend:The ancient practice of a man and woman folding 1,000 cranes for their wedding is called sembazuru. The tradition itself is called Tsuru wa sennen. The time and energy put into the thousand hand-folded origami cranes symbolized the patience and trust necessary to sustain a happy marriage.
Wish Legend:The ancient Japanese tradition of senbazuru promises that a person who folds 1000 cranes will be granted a wish, such as long life or recovery from illness. Many times a family or group of people come together to accomplish this labor of love.

Off to southern CA for my 15th year of teaching my girls there!
This year's project was Ling Li or her sister, Chun Woo and the Chinese Carrying Case for them!
I love my trips there and my dearest friend Dorice took me to a fabulous Japanese Bookstore...read more here!!!
Back home to ROotie and creating the last of house or shoppes in our year long My Village project! This has been such a wonderful project for us all to do together. Completed each student will have 10 houses or shoppes in all.

To bind them together we used ribbon(s) tipped with pretty little hearts that represent the heart and soul of the people living in the Village and a created a ribbon sleeve with a postcard addressed to My Village!
They can be displayed either bound as a group or laid out accordion style...
There is always more to the photo- isn't there???...correct lighting, right angle...don't forget plain backdrop...oh yes! and then there is the adjusting color...cropping...

Our last final project of the year was the
Surprise Holiday Doll Class
...this class is designed especially for my students, here at ROotie StudiO, that have given their support all year! It is a one time class, so that creates much excitement and I love doing this for them.

This season came with many wonderous and sparkling events! Mark and I are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family!! Here are some highlights from December...I missed taking photos of the family gathering at our house for Christmas- 21 for a sit down dinner- you can imagine I was too busy cooking to take photos!!
